Other Things I Listened To (And Why They’re Not Here)/What I Think Will Be Good Next Year:

Fastlife- Joe Jonas.
…Sigh.

Sticks And Stones- Cher Lloyd.
I find Cher Lloyd both adorable and terrifying. This is how I want all my popstars. Standouts: With Ur Love, Beautiful People.

Christmas- Michael Bublé.
LOVED IT.

The King Of Limbs- Radiohead.
DIDN’T LOVE IT.

Up All Night- One Direction
Don’t get me wrong, I love me some 1D and had all the songs been as good as ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ they would be number one with a bullet. Unfortunately there are just some clunkers in the mix. Standouts: Same Mistakes, What Makes You Beautiful, Tell Me A Lie.

4- Beyoncé
I really liked it. I probably should have listened to it a bit more. You can’t say a bad word about this woman. Standouts: Love On Top, Run The World (Girls), Party.

Born This Way- Lady Gaga
…The singles were really good. But I think this is what happens when people start being afraid to say ‘No’ to you. Standouts: Judas.

Talk That Talk- Rihanna
Has one of her best songs and I always appreciate a good thinly veiled penis metaphor but a lot of it feels rushed. Standouts: We Found Love, Where Have You Been, You Da One.

Tha Carter IV- Lil Wayne.
Tha Carter V is going to be awesome. I think Weezy just needed this one to shake off the post-prison rustiness that was always gonna be there then come back swinging. Standouts: She Will. 6’ 7’.

Soul Punk- Patrick Stump.
As I said the other day, this album is a bit of a hot mess. There’s a lot of ideas going on in here and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I respect all of this album and how it was made a great deal but there’s too much of “I’ll listen to half this ALL THE TIME, the other half not so much” going on here. Patrick Stump is totally one of my heroes though. Standouts: This City, Everybody Wants Somebody, Coast (It’s Gonna Get Better).

Dirty Work- All Time Low.
This album did what it needed to do, I think. It made them a popular guitar band, like, Cool FM played ‘I Feel Like Dancin’. I have no problem with that, I’m a pop listener and feel there is a weird lack of guitar bands so I’m not begrudging them that. I just think the album as a whole is a solid three stars. Some great songs, some ok songs. Standouts: Under A Paper Moon, Return The Favor, Do You Want Me (Dead?)

Suck It And See- Arctic Monkeys
I kinda forget this album exists sometimes. That’s probably the problem here. I like it when I listen to it. Standouts: Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair, Piledriver Waltz.

The People’s Key- Bright Eyes
Aside from just totally forgetting what this album was called, I like it a lot. Standouts: Ladder Song.

Mine Is Yours- Cold War Kids
I liked this a lot more than most people seemed to. “But not enough to put it in the top ten, eh!?” No. Don’t be silly. Standouts: Bulldozer.

Codes & Keys- Death Cab For Cutie.
I was gutted that this wasn’t better. It just felt a little inconsequential. I still love you Ben Gibbard. We should hang out. I’ll never leave you. Standouts: Some Boys, Stay Young Go Dancing.

Elsie- The Horrible Crowes.
I just came to it a bit late in the year. It’s dynamite though. Standouts: Sugar, Behold The Hurricane, Crush.

Jukebox- JLS
Don’t judge me. They just seem like nice boys! Standouts: So Many Girls, Do You Feel What I Feel?, Go Harder.

In Case You Didn’t Know- Olly Murs.
LOVED IT.

Vices & Virtues- Panic! At The Disco.
Loved! It. Then! it got a bit samey.

When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes- Yellowcard.
LOVED IT.

What’s Gonna Be Good Next Year: NEW JONAS BROTHERS. MARK RONSON PRODUCED RUFUS WAINWRIGHT. LANA DEL REY. NEW KANYE IF THAT’S ACTUALLY HAPPENING aaaaaaaand LITTLE MIX.
