Mama Do The Hump- Rizzle Kicks

Know what I really like about Rizzle Kicks? Well first of all, their name is fun to say. Secondly, they’re kind of adorable moppets, did you see them on Never Mind The Buzzcocks? Awk. BUT THIRDLY! How defiantly English they are in contrast to other UK rappers.

What I mean is, a lot of UK hip-hop is full of references to American culture in an attempt to make US listeners more likely to be like “Hey! I understand that!” but they never feel genuine and always sound kind of out of place. Like, I heard a song the other day that referenced ‘The Hills’. …HARDCORE.

But not Rizzle Kicks. They are just flat out English. Kind of like the Arctic Monkeys’ first album when they made a point of sounding like they were from Sheffield. Respec’ lads.
